This talk discusses the evolving role of the audio designer for games and interactive entertainment, what new roles need to be created and what skills will be necessary to be successful in this fast-changing industry. We look at the parallel between today's interactive entertainment and the early days of sound generation for motion picture and see what lessons can be learned and what pit-falls might be avoided. We look back to the early pioneers of the industry to see what can be learned. We look at the current state of the art and see how we're doing and where improvement is needed. Finally, we look forward, at how future technologies might shape the creation of audio for interactive media. (download PowerPoint document) |
